Kamenica, Kosovo: Internship Opportunity

We live in the beautiful eastern region of Kosovo, which is also one of the areas in the country least reached with the Gospel. Out of 30,000 people in the Kamenica region, there is only a handful of known believers and we long to reach more people with the message of hope in Christ.

Some of the work in Kamenica is centred around our Community and Education Centre where we offer organised activities for children, young people and disabled men. We also have regular English courses, drop-in times for young people, and special events. Another key part of the work involves visiting people in their homes and meeting for coffee as ways to build relationships and share life with those around us.

We would love to host you for your internship if you are prepared to:

  • leave your comfort zone. Flexibility is key!
  • join us in praying regularly for our town
  • actively engage with our post-war, post-communist, multi-ethnic, and mostly Muslim context
  • intentionally build relationships
  • participate in a variety of activities

We offer:

  • active participation in our mission situation, with a focus on both practical and contextualized ministry ranging from the basic running of the Community and Education Centre, teaching English, kids and teens clubs, drop-in centre, home visits etc.
  • opportunities to assist in organising and running special events, programmes, and kids/youth camps, depending on the season.
  • regular care and support during your stay, including prayer, personal mentoring and guidance, and team meetings.
  • accommodation with a missionary couple (if desired – otherwise we will seek to find you independent accommodation elsewhere in town).

Financial: You will be expected to:

  • contribute to the cost of living with the missionary couple in town (€40/week in summer, €50/week in winter) which covers your utilities and meals at home.
  • pay for your private expenses such as personal toiletries and other personal needs, phone, eating out, bus/taxi fares etc (suggested max €35/week, depending on lifestyle).
  • cover personal ministry expenses such as meeting people for coffee (suggested €10/week)

Renting private accommodation would cost an additional €250-300/month.

Language: English is the language spoken by the team. Albanian and Serbian are used in ministry, and translation can be provided for English speakers. Teaching English is also one of our key ministry activities.
