Translation project:
“How to talk about Jesus (without being THAT guy)”
A book to help Spanish-speaking university students share Jesus with their friends is now in print! Thanks to the generosity of donors and support from GBU Conecta, Sam Chan’s How to Talk About Jesus (Without Being THAT Guy) has been translated into Spanish and published. And there is still an opportunity to help get this resource into the hands of students across Spain.
Why this book?
As an ECMI missionary working with university students in Spain, I want to encourage them to talk about Jesus with the people they meet on campus. But how do you start a conversation about faith? How can you share the gospel naturally and thoughtfully, without making things awkward or coming across as “that guy”?
I came across Sam Chan’s book, How to Talk About Jesus (Without Being THAT Guy): Personal Evangelism in a Sceptical World, and immediately thought how helpful it could be for the students I work with.
The book offers practical ideas for engaging with people who don't yet know Christ, encouraging Christians to share life with others, listen well and find natural ways to talk about Jesus.
I wanted students in Spain to be able to read it in their own language. So, we launched a project to raise €4,000 to cover the translation, publication and distribution of a Spanish edition.
From an idea to a published book
I'm delighted to share that the Spanish translation has now been published through Andamio Editorial, the publishing house connected with GBUnidos Spain.
Andamio's GBU Conecta collection provides Christian resources for university students — including books on personal evangelism, apologetics and exploring the Christian faith. This new Spanish edition is a valuable addition, giving students a practical resource to help them share their faith with friends and classmates.
The project has been made possible through the generosity of donors in the United States and the support of an existing fund within GBU Conecta. We reached 50% of our original fundraising target, and we are so grateful that this support enabled us to bring the book into print.
You can still be part of it
Although the book has now been published, there are still project costs to cover. Donations are welcome and will help meet these remaining expenses, as well as support the work of making the book available to students across Spain.
Your contribution can help put a practical resource into the hands of young Christians who want to talk about Jesus but aren't always sure where to begin.
Thank you to everyone who has already supported this project. Please also pray that the book will reach the right hands, encourage students to speak about Jesus and lead to many meaningful conversations about the gospel.
